Junjun in Narinig Mo Ba: Character Guide

Junjun is the first customer you serve in Narinig Mo Ba: a regular who comes to the window on each of the first three days for one coffee stick. This guide covers what he orders, how to serve him and the small dialogue details that make him memorable, based on the story files of the Narinig Mo Ba build hosted on this site. Anything touching the later story sits inside folded spoiler blocks.

Story spoilers on this page stay inside closed “Story spoilers ahead” panels. The title, summary and headings are spoiler-free.

Who is Junjun?

Junjun is a neighbourhood regular and the first person at your counter when a new game of Narinig Mo Ba begins. In the story files of the build on this site he visits on Days 1, 2 and 3, each time as the day's first customer and each time for the same thing: a single coffee stick.

He calls you Ate (older sister), the friendly, respectful form most adult visitors in Narinig Mo Ba use for the shopkeeper. Over three visits you learn that he owes the shop money and is looking for work.

That makes him the first lesson in how Narinig Mo Ba tells its story: not through cutscenes, but through small talk at a wire-mesh window. What a customer mentions in passing is often worth remembering.

"A stick of coffee, Ate." (Junjun, Day 1)

Your first meeting

Day 1 of Narinig Mo Ba opens with a "DAY 1" title card, then Junjun steps up to the window while a tip explains the mouse: "Left Click: Take/drop items, Left Click (HOLD): Return items, Right Click: Check price". The talk soon turns to his tab.

In the story file, both replies you are offered raise it: "Do you have plans to pay your debts today?" or "Not until you pay your debt, Junjun". Either way he gives the same answer: "Right, right… 50 pesos… I have it." The next reply is the only one available: "You know what? Don't bother Junjun."

He calls you an angel. After you serve him, he says "Salamat ulit, Ate" (thank you again) and promises: "I'll pay you back when I get a stable job some day."

In this build's story files each conversation is a fixed list of steps, so whichever reply you pick, the next line is the same. Your kindness to Junjun is written into the story, so there is no wrong answer.

What he asks for

In the story files, Junjun's order never changes:

Day Visit Order Total
1 First 1 NESKAPE coffee stick ₱10
2 First 1 NESKAPE coffee stick ₱10
3 First 1 NESKAPE coffee stick ₱10

NESKAPE is one of the parody brands in the shop, hanging with the other sachets overhead.

How to serve him

  1. After the chat, his money appears on the counter and the bubble switches to "I need:" with a picture of one coffee stick.
  2. Look up to the "sachets ↑" view and click a coffee stick to take it.
  3. Drop it on the front counter. On a touchscreen, tap the stick, then Serve.

In our browser run of Day 1, Junjun paid with a single ₱10 coin, and the visit ended the moment the coffee stick reached the counter: with exact payment there is no change step. His Day 2 and Day 3 visits use the same setting in the files; we have only watched Day 1.

Dialogue clues

Junjun speaks only a few lines. The quotes below come from the story files; the short headings are our reading of them:

  • Day 1: the debt. He owes ₱50, says he has it, and you wave it away; his promise to repay "when I get a stable job" sets up Day 2.
  • Day 2: the job hunt. Ask how it is going and he is "still waiting on a return call from one of the employers", then sighs: "Hirap maging mahirap, Ate ano?" ("It's hard to be poor, isn't it?"). The only reply is "Ganyan talaga ang buhay eh": "That's life."
  • Day 3: shaken. Both replies notice something: "Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost." He laughs it off ("I just get cranky if I haven't had my coffee") and leaves with a warm line: "You're one of the good ones in this neighborhood."

Later that day your neighbour Lucia brings him up unprompted: "did you see the look on Junjun's face?" She guesses an employer turned him down.

Day 3 is Junjun's last regular visit. From Day 4 someone else opens the day, and Narinig Mo Ba leaves you with the questions his short conversations raise.

Spoiler-marked interpretation

The blocks below cover Junjun's part in the rest of Narinig Mo Ba. The first sticks to what the files show; the second is our interpretation.

Story spoilers ahead What the story files show

On Day 5, Jomar, who is asking around the neighbourhood, says a dead body was discovered near the canal. On Day 6 he brings the identification: "It was a man named Miguel Jr." Then: "Our leads say he went by Junjun."

In the ending file, Lucia claims Junjun was trying to break into her house and tried to hurt her, and that she did not mean to kill him: "It was an accident!" Your final reply is either "She killed Junjun…" or "Arrest her!"; the files contain no branch after either choice, and the scripts indicate both lead to the credits.

Story spoilers ahead Our interpretation

Replay Narinig Mo Ba with that knowledge and his visits change colour. The ₱50 debt, the stalled job hunt and the Day 3 "ghost" look suggest a man under pressure, though the files never say what frightened him. Lucia's Day 3 remark about his face reads differently too.

Her account of the break-in is only her word. No scene in the files shows it, so how far to believe her is left to you.

When you are ready, open the player and serve him his coffee.

How we checked this

Checked against the dialogue and item files of build b_67742981ff37 (Junjun's Day 1–3 visits, Lucia's Day 3 visit, Jomar's Day 5–6 visits and the ending file) and a desktop browser run of Junjun's Day 1 visit. Days 2–6 were not played, and no full playthrough on real devices was done.

Browser & loading help

A failed check can come from the browser, device, driver or a managed setting. Choose your browser below.

Chrome could not start WebGL2. Update and relaunch Chrome, then check graphics acceleration if your desktop settings allow it.

  1. Open the menu, choose Help → About Google Chrome, install any update and select Relaunch.
  2. On a computer, open Settings → System and check that graphics acceleration is available. Relaunch after changing it.
  3. On Android, update Chrome and the system from their usual update screens instead.
  4. Do not force experimental flags. On a managed device the setting may belong to your administrator.

Update macOS, iOS or iPadOS to update Safari. If native fullscreen is unavailable, use the expanded view inside this page.

  1. Safari updates with the system: use Software Update on your Mac, iPhone or iPad.
  2. The game does not need any experimental Safari settings. If WebGL2 still fails, try an updated, supported device.
  3. On iPhone and iPad most browser apps use Safari’s engine (WebKit), so switching browsers there usually changes little. The WebGL2 check on this site is what counts.
  4. Where native fullscreen is not available, Fullscreen expands the player inside the page. Rotating is always your choice.

Update Firefox, review its Performance settings and restart. If WebGL2 still fails, try another supported device.

  1. Update Firefox, then open Settings and find the Performance section.
  2. Use the recommended performance settings, or review the hardware acceleration option if your system shows one. Restart after a change.
  3. Option names vary between versions and systems. Do not bypass the compatibility safeguards that block unstable graphics drivers.

Update Edge and restart it. On desktop, check graphics acceleration. A managed device may need help from its administrator.

  1. Open Settings and more → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge to install updates, then restart.
  2. On a computer, look under Settings → System and performance for graphics acceleration, then restart.
  3. An organisation can control this setting. Ask its administrator instead of trying to override the policy.

Opening help does not save or necessarily pause the game. Restarting may lose this session.
