Browser & loading help

Start with the symptom you see. Opening the browser help panel does not reload the game or create a second copy of it.

Play does nothing

The player needs JavaScript. Until its script has started, the button stays disabled and the player says “Preparing the player…”. If that message stays, JavaScript is switched off for this site, an extension blocked the script, or the page did not load completely. Reload the page, allow JavaScript for this site or try a private window, which runs without extensions. No game files are downloaded at this point.

The game cannot start

The game needs WebGL2. When you press Play now, the player first checks that your browser can create a WebGL2 context. Only then does it request the large game files. If the check fails you will see “Your browser could not start WebGL2.” and the browser steps open.

Update your browser and operating system, review the graphics-acceleration settings your browser offers and restart it before testing again. Hardware, drivers or a managed device policy can still prevent WebGL2; in that case try another supported device. The browser steps below cover Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

The download seems stuck

The first load is large: the build on this site is about 114 MB before compression. The actual transfer depends on compression and caching, and a second visit is usually faster.

The player shows a percentage only when the game loader reports real numbers. After the download reaches 100%, it says “Starting the game engine…” while the engine prepares the shop. If no new data arrives for 45 seconds, you will see “Still loading? Nothing new has arrived for 45 seconds.” That is a hint, not a failure: nothing is restarted for you. Choose Keep waiting, Load again or Browser help.

  • Keep the tab open and in the foreground on phones; switching apps can pause the download.
  • Check your connection, or switch from mobile data to Wi‑Fi.
  • A private window rules out extensions and old cached files.
  • “The game page could not be loaded.” or “A game file could not be loaded: …” usually means a connection problem or an update on this site. Wait a minute, then choose Try again.

A black or frozen game after it started

When the status says “The engine has started”, click or tap inside the game once to give it focus; until then it may not react to keys and may stay silent. If the picture turns black or freezes and the player shows “Graphics interrupted. Restarting may lose this session.”, the browser dropped the game's graphics, which can happen after the tab sat in the background or when the device runs low on memory. Restart asks before it starts again from Day 1, so you can decide.

The shop looks too small or cut off

Use Fullscreen. Where your browser does not allow native fullscreen, the player expands inside the page instead and keeps an Exit button visible. The whole 16:9 view stays visible; the site never crops the sides of the game to fill a tall screen.

On a phone, turn the device sideways for more room. The site suggests landscape but never locks the rotation.

Controls at a glance

These controls come from the input settings and scripts of the build hosted here.

If the view keeps sliding sideways, your pointer is probably resting near the edge of the game. Move it towards the middle and use the keys instead.

An order or payment will not finish

Read the customer's whole “I need:” list; the pictures and quantities count, not only the spoken line. Customers pay first, then you hand over every item, then you give back the difference from the cash drawer. A missing item or an extra coin on the counter can look like an unresponsive game.

The beginner guide and the change guide cover the in-game steps; this page covers the browser.

Escape, Exit and restarting

The build hosted here has no save system (none of its scripts write save data): refreshing the page, closing the tab or restarting returns you to the main menu and Day 1. That is why every Restart on this site asks before it replaces the game.

This build binds the Escape key to quitting, which would leave a frozen picture in a browser. On this site Escape never reaches the game; it only leaves the expanded view, and when a help panel is open it closes the panel first. The Exit button on the game's own menu still closes the session, and the player then offers to start again.

Browser steps

Chrome could not start WebGL2. Update and relaunch Chrome, then check graphics acceleration if your desktop settings allow it.

  1. Open the menu, choose Help → About Google Chrome, install any update and select Relaunch.
  2. On a computer, open Settings → System and check that graphics acceleration is available. Relaunch after changing it.
  3. On Android, update Chrome and the system from their usual update screens instead.
  4. Do not force experimental flags. On a managed device the setting may belong to your administrator.

Update macOS, iOS or iPadOS to update Safari. If native fullscreen is unavailable, use the expanded view inside this page.

  1. Safari updates with the system: use Software Update on your Mac, iPhone or iPad.
  2. The game does not need any experimental Safari settings. If WebGL2 still fails, try an updated, supported device.
  3. On iPhone and iPad most browser apps use Safari’s engine (WebKit), so switching browsers there usually changes little. The WebGL2 check on this site is what counts.
  4. Where native fullscreen is not available, Fullscreen expands the player inside the page. Rotating is always your choice.

Update Firefox, review its Performance settings and restart. If WebGL2 still fails, try another supported device.

  1. Update Firefox, then open Settings and find the Performance section.
  2. Use the recommended performance settings, or review the hardware acceleration option if your system shows one. Restart after a change.
  3. Option names vary between versions and systems. Do not bypass the compatibility safeguards that block unstable graphics drivers.

Update Edge and restart it. On desktop, check graphics acceleration. A managed device may need help from its administrator.

  1. Open Settings and more → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge to install updates, then restart.
  2. On a computer, look under Settings → System and performance for graphics acceleration, then restart.
  3. An organisation can control this setting. Ask its administrator instead of trying to override the policy.

What a check can—and cannot—prove

A successful WebGL2 check is not a promise about memory, frame rate or every device. “The engine has started” means the game engine is running, not that a whole shift has been tested on your device.

When the game will not load, the loading guide matches the message on screen to each stage of the player.

Report a problem

The details below name the build on this site, the last stage the player reached on this page and your browser. Open the panel from the game page's Browser help button to include the player's current stage.

These details show where the player stopped. Check the text, copy it, then add what you see on screen.

Already playing? Your game keeps running in the tab where you started it; this button opens the player here and starts a new game.

Browser & loading help

A failed check can come from the browser, device, driver or a managed setting. Choose your browser below.

Chrome could not start WebGL2. Update and relaunch Chrome, then check graphics acceleration if your desktop settings allow it.

  1. Open the menu, choose Help → About Google Chrome, install any update and select Relaunch.

Opening help does not save or necessarily pause the game. Restarting may lose this session.
